In this Beginner’s Hatha Yoga class, there is a strong emphasis on the breath and slowing down the mind. The yoga poses are geared towards building strength and flexibility no matter the level of experience. Reinaldo is an expert at adapting yoga poses due to his own physical limitations (3 knee surgeries, and a shoulder injury),but that has not let him stop enjoying the yoga that he loves. If you think you can’t do yoga because you have movement restrictions or injuries, he can show you that you can!
After we have limbered up the body with classical yoga poses, we wind down for Yoga Nidra or deep rest. During Yoga Nidra, Reinaldo uses Tibetan Singing Bowls, and possibly other instruments, as a focal point for the mind, facilitating a deeper state of relaxation or meditation. The body and mind rehabilitate themselves when the body is at rest and the mind is still. The last fifteen minutes of class will be a mini sound healing session!
The ambient sound of the singing bowls increases concentration and has a healing effect on the entire body down to cellular level. Picture yourself singing your favorite song at the top of your lungs, or hearing the first song you danced to as a couple, and how this raises your spirits even when you’re feeling low, or the way your feel when you listen to the birds sing. This is the power of music and sound when used with intent.
Reinaldo has been offering Sound Healing Meditations for 3 years publicly, and has been learning for over 10. He graduated yoga teacher in July 2015 and has been teaching yoga ever since. When you use the practice of hatha yoga to calm the mind in combination with sound vibration, it will be life changing. Less stress, less irritability, more flexibility, and more beauty in our lives!
