Yoga for addiction recovery is a program for anyone dealing with addictive behavior or affected by the addictive behavior of others. No matter what the nature of the addiction, all who seek recovery and serenity are welcome here.  Whether you are working to end your addictive behavior with alcohol, food, narcotics, shopping, gaming, cluttering, sex, codependency or any other form of self-abuse; this yoga course can assist you in getting over the emotional hurdles of your addiction.

This yoga course combines the 12 steps of recovery with yoga practice to address the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual disease of addiction. The first half of each Yoga for Addiction Recovery class will involve learning and sharing in a safe and confidential space about how our addictions have become unmanageable. We then learn to use yoga as a tool to manage internal stress and prevent relapse. The yoga practice is a level one class with adaptions provided so that everyone will be able to participate. Together we will discover how combining the 12 steps of yoga can create a path back to wholeness, community, purpose, joy, and freedom.

Not sure if you have an addiction or want to know more? Here is a great link to help you answer that question. Just fill in the blank with your substance or behavior if it is not alcohol. The formula is helpful for everyone. Click here for the questionnaire.

Do NOT be ashamed of your current situation. You deserve to be loved and accepted just the way you are. The first step is recognizing that we have a problem and could use support.

Debra Guarneri has been practicing yoga for more than 20 years and has been teaching yoga for the last 1 1/2 years. Debra has been in recovery from addiction for 4 years. She is a living example of active recovery practicing the 12 steps and yoga. Debra recently became certified and is leading Y12SR meetings, and had developed her own style of teaching the 12 steps of recovery in combination with her own practical yoga style that everyone  can do.

Why yoga? Yoga helps us get in touch with our deeper emotions and help us to release stress and tension in the body and mind. It is the perfect compliment to the valuable coping skills we will learn in each meeting.

You can do this!

Deb offers this course on the first Friday of each month as a community service for free. You can take the following weeks at a very reasonable rate to help you stay on track. Keep coming back!
